What is a Summary Judgement?

Following a bail bond forfeiture, a summary judgement is issued by the court. This is a judgment against the surety for payment of the bond amount. Summary judgments are typically issued because the deadline for re-instating the bail bond or the time to return the defendant back to custody has passed.
